The Student Leaderhip Program aims to provide Prairiewood High School students with opportunities to develop practical, personal leadership skills through structured training sessions and volunteer involvement within the school and its wider community. The program itself aims to foster an encouraging and affirmative environment in which the participants can grow, learn, practise and develop leadership skills as an individual and as part of a team.

The mission of the Student Leadership Program is to facilitate the development of leadership skills among current and emerging leaders through workshops, team builders, conferences, consultations and a leadership resource centre.
The program is designed to be completed in one academic year by each leadership group, that is, for students elected as School Captains and Prefects, as well as members of the Sports Council and Student Representative Council.
The program consists of three components:
Interactive Workshop Participation;
Practical Experience; and
Community Service.
It provides students with the knowledge and skills development to assume leadership roles at school, in society and in the global experience.
Our working premis is that everyone has the potential for leadership, which is a unique and life long journey.
Program Goals
To develop participant's understanding of general leadership characteristics and concepts
To enhance student learning and personal development through leadership training
To assist students in assessing their leadership skills, abilities and goals
To develop group interaction skills, team building, group communication and group decision-making skills
To provide diversity training
Program Outcomes
Participants will have gained a full appreciation for individual differences and the skills necessary to become a global citizen
Participants will have a raised awareness of an individual's role and responsibility within the Prairiewood High School community, and our global community
Participants will become an established pool of well-trained leaders that can enhance school life
Participants will become actively involved with the increase of community service initiatives.
